Offered through a unique blended delivery model, this qualification is for people who are single source, comb, or medical grade manuka honey producers, pollination service providers or self-marketing producers. Want to gain the skills and knowledge to rear queen bees? Otago Polytechnic is the only tertiary provider who offers this industry-recognised training pathway that will enable you to rear queen bees for a commercial operation or to operate your own queen rearing operation.

Graduates will be able to work independently and could supervise others. Work outdoors and enjoy a hands-on, physical job. Arborists are in demand for their ability to care for, and maintain, trees. Landscape Horticulture (LH)

Available to study across regional locations, General Horticulture Level 3 is a free course where students gain fundamental skills about plant growing systems and environments. At Wintec, students will gain the knowledge, training and skills to care for public and private gardens, parks and open spaces, while also getting the benefit of learning at the beautiful Hamilton Gardens campus! Typically students will study our horticulture programmes over two years. This structure develops the skills and knowledge to become assistant or lead amenity horticulturalists, plant collection assistants, turf apprentices, amenity team leaders or contractors.
